Day 4 — Changing

I feel as though music connects life events and evokes catharsis unlike anything else in our world. Perhaps it’s because I come from a musical family. I’m obviously off topic regarding today’s software development achievements, but bear with me for a moment.

I’m now Googling almost exclusively for code only. The pseudocode is materializing in my head while Jon’s videos are playing. Today I jammed through lessons and modules like I’d just been granted SpeedBoostActive() and I exceeded the goal I’d set for myself in terms of progress. The knowledge feels like it’s sticking.

I’m also looking at things around me — electronics, appliances — and I’m thinking in pseudocode about how they may have been designed to do the things they do. It’s really intriguing. And then thinking about where an industry like gaming is today… wow… there are some extremely talented individuals and teams out there. We’re so lucky to be learning with one!

The music reference — right. A few days ago, I alluded to this intern position being my leap of faith into a profession that I for so long had ignored. Maybe because I didn’t want to change. It’s 2020, and — among so many other things, I’m determined that the time to act is now. Who knows that tomorrow may bring? You could say the times are changing. Or, as Bob Dylan said circa 1964:

“… if your time to you is worth savin’, then you better start swimmin’, or you’ll sink like a stone, for the times they are a changin’”

Spotify’s algorithm absolutely nailed it today with that song, as I completed the shields power up module.

Cheers
